Alex Anest is a professional guitarist who has been teaching other people to play since he was fifteen years old. While Alex has a degree in Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University, he is comfortable teaching and playing all styles of music, especially American Musical Genres such as Rock, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Country, etcetera. Alex prefers to concentrate on the common threads running through diverse musical styles, and is dedicated to teaching the concept of quality, so that a student can take what s/he learns and apply it to any style of music, and sometimes even to areas outside of music altogether.
As a performer, music has taken Alex all over the country and the world, from touring in Switzerland with folk singer Kevin Meisel to playing across the Midwest and the South with various Michigan bands from 1999 through the present. He has also appeared on numerous CDs and a few movie soundtracks.
Alex takes students of all ages and enjoys teaching reading, theory, improvisation. He also teaches guitar, bass, mandolin, lap steel.
