Beau DeLoach
Beau DeLoach
- Acoustic Guitar, Fingerpicking Style, Music Theory
Beau's idea of teaching is giving his students the tools they need "to teach themselves." This includes learning practical music theory so students can figure out the chords to songs they enjoy. Musical idioms covered are: country, folk, fingerpicking solos, pop, classical, old jazz tunes, and Beatles tunes, plus the teaching of a variety of accompaniment styles.
Beau was one of the first performers to play The Ark in Ann Arbor, and taught at Herb David Guitar Studio in the late 60s and early 70s. He also taught at Dick Lurie Guitar Studio in Cleveland (1971-76), The Guitar Workshop in Oyster Bay, NY (1976-77), and the Contemporary Institute of Guitar in Port Washington, NY (1977-84), a music school he co-founded and -owned. While in New York Beau fronted his own seven-piece country band, a group that performed at NYC's famed Lone Star Cafe, among other clubs. His chamber-music compositions for three one-act plays were performed Off-Broadway at the Theatre of the Open Eye. Between 1987 and 2006 Beau resided in Nashville, where he was active as performer, accompanist, and studio musician.
