August 2010 events:
21 AUGUST 2010, Saturday
"Ear Training Clinic with Ed N."
3:00 - 4:00 PM
FREE
Few areas of musicianship are as vitally important as Ear Training. Ear Training is the art of understanding music that you hear in a way that allows you to reproduce it accurately, either on paper or with your instrument. Understanding what your fellow musicians are playing will also allow you to create effective accompaniment in real time, and understanding your "inner ear" will allow you to accurately and efficiently transcribe or play the music in your head. These fascinating concepts are often overlooked in a young musician's training, but are vital to musical development.
In this free clinic, guitarist Ed Nakayama takes you through fundamental Ear Training concepts and exercises including Solfege, Sight-Singing, Transcription, and some basic Music Theory. No experience is required, and all ages and instruments are welcome.
