Jake Ellzey is a composer and percussionist from Gulfport, Mississippi. Jake's music has "created a haunting tableau." (New York Concert Review Inc.) Often, Jake's compositional work focuses on chamber settings and their application to tell stories. These stories strive to illustrate music as a language to communicate to listeners about a diverse range of subjects such as magical realism, a rally race through the desert, the space between stars, and even a dental appointment for a crocodile. Jake often performs as a percussionist in his own work and has performed with ensembles such as the University of Michigan Percussion Ensemble, University of Michigan Symphony Band, and The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. As a collaborator, Jake has worked with the Bugallo-Williams Duo, Newphonia Ensemble, Brain Pocket trio, Constantinides New Music Ensemble, Hamiruge: the LSU Percussion Group, the Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana, LSU A Capella Choir, and Brett Dietz.
