Guitar
Kyle has been teaching in the Ann Arbor and Detroit area for over ten years. He graduated with a degree in classical guitar from Eastern Michigan University in 2000. On top of a busy teaching schedule, Kyle performs with the Platinum selling rock group Sponge and has recorded and toured throughout the United States. Being versatile is a favorite part of teaching and playing the guitar for Kyle; a list of his past and current “gigs” follows.
Solid Frog:
Alternative rock band (defunct)
Throttlebody:
Defiant Detroit metal (wakes a couple of times a month to pee and raid the refrigerator.)
Sponge:
Never stops working, new live and studio records and tour in 2008.
The Amoroso quartet EMU:
classical ensemble music (defunct, but seems to show up on YouTube.)
The Rhythm Society Orchestra:
Awesome Big band era swing music. (Still working, but five years was enough for me.)
Marshall Neely and the Deputies of Destruction:
Brand-new three-piece band that is finishing its debut CD.
Rudolf Steiner High School:
Part time faculty, Beginning and advanced guitar.
Washtenaw Community College:
Part time faculty, beginning and intermediate classical guitar, rock guitar, beginning guitar, and finger style blues and slide guitar.
Kyle teaches through music and encourages his students to work on music they are interested in, he also tries to bring versatility to his students, a sort of “cross training” approach to keep things fresh. Kyle believes music theory and reading music are important, but if a student quits guitar because of it, they’ll never really get to learn “music."
Kyle's Links:
