Tom Twiss - Drums, Percussion

Tom has been playing drums professionally for 29 years. He has worked with, recorded with, or shared the stage with major artists such as Seals and Crofts, the Allman Brothers, Spirit, and Mott the Hoople. Tom has a varied stylistic background playing jazz, funk, rock, blues, country, classical, show bands and stage musicals. Tom has played in the Ann Arbor Symphony and studied percussion at Eastern Michigan University. Since relocating to Michigan from Los Angeles 10 years ago, Tom’s playing has been the driving force for many local acts such as Al Hill and the Love Butlers, the Prodigals, the Blue Rays, CC and the Bad Luck Boys, the Martindales, the Fabulous High Tops, Wixom Slim and the Wyze Guyz, and the Notebenders to name a few. Tom is currently working with the Witch Doctors and is a first call sub for many bands and players in the area.

Tom’s love of playing carries over to his teaching. Students learn the basics and then follow a path that helps them to love to play AND learn. Lessons are custom fitted to the individual needs of the student, and material learned is of practical and artistic value. Tom uses two drumsets, one for the student and one for the instructor, allowing both student and instructor to play at the same time for rhythmic synchronization, and eliminating the need to play musical chairs that happens when only one kit is used.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, young or old, no matter what style you want to learn, if you want to clean up your technique or learn something new then Tom can offer YOU the insight and instruction you need to be the best you can be.
