Testimonial:
“Mr. Booker really listens to each student – not just how they play when they walk in the door, but he talks to you and seriously tries to find out what kind of musical message you, deep inside, are yearning to express – where you’re coming from musically, emotionally, and even spiritually. He is vastly experienced in sharing the wealth of brass tacks technique(s) to make it truly happen for his students.”
More Info:
Buddy Booker has performed playing electric bass throughout the East Coast, Europe, and elsewhere since 1976 including frequent spots at the world famous Cotton Club, Town Hall in NYC, Wetlands in NYC, CBGB’s, and many more venues – with the likes of KRS-One, Phyllis Hyman, Doug E. Fresh, to name a few. He also was the musical director for a NYC theater company, La Familia, and was an A.M.E. Church bass player for many years. He studied with Victor Wooten, Oteil Burbridge, Bill Dixon, Milford Graves, Michael Manring, and Ed Lord. Many of Mr. Booker’s students have gone on to enjoy successful careers as bassists including performing with Bernie Worrell, The Funkadelics, The Strokes, Omar Hakim, Broadway shows (e.g., The Waitress, Hamilton, etc.) as well as their own creative performing projects. Previously, he was a Bass Instructor for NYU and The New School. Studied Music / Black Music at Bennington College and Western Harmony at Columbia University. For many years, he has been developing extensive pedagogy for his wide range of students.
$60 per hour – but the first lesson is 90 minutes for the same price. “It’s all about a strong foundation.”
A no obligation phone call is always welcome, to see if it’s a good fit. Available in person and currently teaching via Zoom worldwide.
