Liz Bell has been playing drums professionally since 1973. She has worked in nightclubs/bars, playing live music with many different bands over the years. She has been teaching drum set for 12 years.
Her focus is on acoustic drumset playing. She teaches beginners to advanced students. Her influences are Rock, R&B, Blues, Country, and Smooth Jazz. She makes sure to work on timing, reading, feel/groove, and working with a metronome,.
The student can bring in recordings of music they like, and/or books that they would like to learn from. She likes to discuss music the student is interested in, while listening to recordings or watching music videos. She can teach the student how to transcribe music (listen to and write in musical notation).
For more advanced students, she can watch a student play, and make suggestions based on what is seen in the drummer's movements.
